Ardmore School Memories

Remember those report cards? Here is front page from my first grade teacher at Washington School at 5th Northeast and G Street. Today the Washington school building does not exist. George D. Hann was the Superintendant of Schools. Around statehood in 1907 Washington school was called "second ward school". My first grade teacher was Mrs. Roberts. Mrs. Roberts was the daughter of Dr. Jay J. Boyd, the "sugar pill doctor". This is the middle page where all the grades were recorded. In Social Adjustment, she said I don't listen in class. Can you believe that!!!

Mary Ringer was my fifth grade teacher at Washington school and here is one of her report cards on me.

Carolyn Zumwalt was my 6th grade teachor at Washington school. She also was the muzic teachor. Here is one of her repart cords on me. Can you beleve she gave me an "F" in speling?

In the 7th grade at middle school I took Mechanical Drawing under Mr. Tip Jacobson. Here is his report card on me.

In December 1965 I tried my hand at poem writing. Boy, I sure must have had a poor outlook on life. Here is the poem "Someday" I typed on an old non-electric Smith Corona typewriter.

Remember those little Student Directories they gave out at school with the names, addresses and phone numbers of everyone? Here is four Ardmore High School Student Directories I still happen to have. They are dated 1964-65, 1965-66, 1966-67 and 1967-68.
