Arthur 'Aus' Edgar Brown

• MADILL -- Services for Arthur "Aus" Edgar Brown, 97, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Watts Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Frank Pennington officiating and music arranged by Callie Rushing, Tommy Taylor and the Dwight Birdsong Band. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

Born May 19, 1904, at McMillan, Indian Territory, to James Andrew and Annie Melvinie Collins Brown, he died Aug. 30, 2001, at Ardmore. He married Annie Laura Goff Nov. 16, 1929, at Kingston. She preceded him in death July 21, 1986. He was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Bobby Dale Clark; and great-granddaughter, Emerald Vega.

Brown was reared in Love County until 1924 when he moved to and lived in Marshall and Johnston counties. In 1955 he and his wife moved to Madill where they lived the rest of their lives. Aus worked as a farmer, truck driver and a pipeliner for a number of years and for the City of Madill and Marshall County District 2. He retired around the age of 85. Aus mowed yards for the elderly and widowed and was a self-taught and very renown fiddler. He won many trophies and awards throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas. Aus loved to fish, deer hunt and play music for the local nursing homes and senior citizen centers. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Vickie Brown, Madill, and Eddie and Debbie Brown, Atoka; daughters and sons-in-law, Neva Lafon and Emit Clark, Madill, Mona Jo and Jack Cumbie, Russett, Glynda Jane and Ferrell Herndon, Durant, Susan Kaye and Jackie Pilgrim, Ardmore, and Nancy Lou and Dough Kirk, Plainview; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Gregory, Pampa, Texas; brother, Vernon Brown, Spring Lake, Mich.; sister-in-law, Aline Brown, Ardmore; several Goff family in-laws and many other relatives and many, many dear and loved friends; and special persons that cared for our daddy, Jaynie Gores, Lila Carter and Kathleen Grider.

Bearers are Randy Cumbie, Jackie Don Cumbie, Dennis Cumbie, Jeremy Cumbie, Todd Brown, Grant Brown, Mitchell Pilgrim and Teeleih Bond. Honorary bearers are Dr. Greg Martens, Donald Joe Adams, Otis Wilson, Ed Benton, Dwight Birdsong, John Grider, Bryant Watts, Dr. John Sills, John H. Jones, Milford Clement, Marcello Cavallo, Thomas Pittman and Ivan Loyd.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 tonight with the family hour being reserved from 6 to 8 tonight.
