• OAKLAND -- Graveside services for Georgie Ellen Loper 81, Madill, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2001, at Oakland Cemetery with Ronnie Horner officiating.

Mrs. Loper was born Feb. 18, 1920, at Erick, Okla., to James Riley Van Tassel and Willie Alice Morgan. She died May 22, 2001, in Madill.

Raised in Fairfax and Tarlton, Okla., she moved to California in 1935, to Russett in 1979 and then to the Madill area where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a homemaker and member of United Pentecostal Church. She married Jesse Paul Loper on July 2, 1940, in Reno, Nev. He preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1987. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jean Sarka; two grandchildren, Jesse William Pugh and Jessica Barnard; and a son-in-law, James Sarka.

She is survived by a son, Ray Loper; and two daughters, Janet Stinson and Asenith Loper, all of Madill; grandchildren, Luana Barnard and husband, David, April Gray and husband, Danny, and Ellen Pugh and husband, Leroy; great-grandchildren, Laurel Riggs and husband, Jeff, Darren Gray, Arianne Gray, David Barnard Jr., and John Pugh and Kelly Pugh; a great-great-grandchild, Brock Riggs; three brothers, James Riley Van Tassel of Sacramento, Calif., Gerald Van Tassel of Chico, Calif., and Billy Van Tassel of St. Helen, Calif.; and a sister, Ruth Mooney of San Jose, Calif.
